davisonSusan Davison, Academic Assessment Specialist
Mrs. Figueroa Davison is a product of the Aldine Independent School District.  After completing her degree in Applied Learning and Development at the University of Texas at Austin, she returned to Aldine ISD to begin her teaching career.   Her first position as a language arts teacher was at Anderson Academy where she was a former student.  She used her specialization in reading in the classroom before moving into an instructional leadership role.  She has worked at Bethune for twenty years in various positions.  She currently serves as the Academic, Assessment and Data Specialist.  Working with teachers to improve student achievement is her driving focus.

brownAnita Brown, Math Coach
Ms. Brown is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She moved to Texas to attend College at Texas Southern University. During her tenure at TSU she obtained her BS Degree in Home Economics with a special endorsement in Child Development, and a MA degree in Child Development. After many years of teaching she became part of the staff at Aldine Independent School District in 1997. She is a 29 year veteran in education, having taught Pre-K-5 grade. She became part of the Bethune Academy staff in the 2012-2013 school year.  She holds the honor of campus Teacher of the Year 2011-2012 at Ermel Elementary and 2013-2014 at Bethune Academy. Her interest in math and science was enhanced after attending the Mickelson/Exxon Mobil (STEM) Teachers Academy. Consequently, this year she will use her new and exciting approach to support and guide math teachers as the campus' Mathematics Skills Specialist.


Jaime Barrera, Information Literacy Specialist
Mr. Barrera has eight years of experience as a 4th and 5th grade bilingual classroom teacher and is in his second year as the librarian at Bethune Academy. He joined Aldine ISD last year and was also honored with the Teacher of the Year award for the 2013-2014 school year. Mr. Barrera received his Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas Pan-American and his Masters in Library Science from Sam Houston State University.  He is an avid reader and credits reading as a fundamental component to succeed in today’s world. As a parent and educator, he believes that everyone has the power to boost learning potential by simply making books an integral part of their lives.


Zenobia Howard, Instructional Technology Specialist
Mrs. Howard came to Bethune after spending eleven years serving at Carroll Academy as a 1st and 2nd grade G/T teacher. She is a proud graduate of Texas Southern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is also ESL certified. She has a wonderful husband who also dedicates his life to being a public servant. They have two awesome sons who makes them extremely proud. Their oldest is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and the youngest is their self-taught soccer genius who will be in 8th grade this fall.  Mrs. Howard is both proud and humbled to be able to serve the students, parents and staff of Bethune Academy.

ThompsonNichole Thompson, Writing Coach
Ms. Thompson is native of the Acres Homes Community and graduate of Eisenhower Senior High. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Huston-Tillotson University and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Prairie View A&M. Ms. Thompson began teaching 4th grade ELA at Bethune Academy in 1998. She helped opened Houston Academy as the Magnet Coordinator. Ms. Thompson has worked in the positions of: 4th grade Writing Coach, Grant and Transportation Coordinator, and Teacher Development Specialist. Now in her 22nd year of education, she has returned back to Bethune Academy as an Instructional Coach for 4th grade English Language Arts.

In her spare time, she enjoys entertaining family and friends, dancing, and reading. Some of her favorite books include: Where the Wild Things Are, To Kill a Mockingbird, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou. Ms. Thompson shares her favorite motto at the beginning of every school year, We Enter to Learn, and Exit to Lead!

RandleLanell Randle, RtI Coordinator
s. Randle came to Bethune Academy after serving twenty two years in education, teaching grades first through sixth. Ms. Randle is a Master level Social Worker highly experienced in school social work.  She is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a graduate of the University of Houston receiving her Master’s degree in Social Work. She is the proud parent of four children and enjoys spending quality time with her family. Ms. Randle feels privileged to be a part of the Leadership Team, working with teachers to improve student achievement and bridge the gap between home and school. 

youngLeslie Young, Dyslexia Specialist
Ms. Young started her educational career after she retired from Pacific Bell Telephone in Los Angeles, California. Leslie taught middle and high school in the South Central area of Los Angeles. In her early forties she made a move to Houston, Texas: this turned out to be the best move of her life. Leslie did not understand how students got to high school and could not read. She made it her life's mission to help as many students as she could learn how to read. Certified in General Elementary with a Master Reading Teacher certification, she spent 14 years as a teacher and professional developer in Houston Independent School District. Leslie is a trainer of many national programs which she is willing to share. The past seven years, she has provided training in multiple disciplines in school districts in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This is her second year in Aldine and she can't wait to work with the students of Bethune Academy!
